X Circle draws the people an X account interacts with most, as rings around its profile photo: the closest in the middle, the occasional ones on the outside. It works for any public account, needs no login, and gives you a PNG to post or keep.
How it works
- It reads recent public posts. Two streams: the account's own recent posts and replies (about 200), and recent posts by other people that mention it (about 100). Amplify's server fetches them through a third-party service that reads public X posts.
- It turns each post into interactions. A reply to someone, a quote of their post, a mention or a repost counts toward that person, and so does everything they send back. Each kind has a weight:Reply 3Quote 2.5Mention 1.5Repost 1
- It scores and ranks people. Interactions fade by half every 30 days, so this month matters more than last. Two-way conversations count extra, and those people get a "mutual" badge. The top 50 go in the picture, highest score in the middle.
- It draws the picture in your browser. Change the background, the number of people and the photo size, or untick someone, and the picture redraws instantly. Download it as a 1080×1080 PNG. A circle updates at most every 3 days.
What it can't do
- It only sees recent public activity. Likes, follows, bookmarks and DMs aren't visible, so they don't count.
- Private (protected) accounts can't be read, and neither can their replies to you.
- It doesn't keep a history of your circles, so it can't show how your circle changed over time.
- The circle is a picture of recent activity, not of friendship.
Where your data goes
The username you type is sent to Amplify's server. It asks a third-party service that reads public X posts for that account's recent posts and the posts that mention it, then scores them and sends the circle back to this tab. Profile photos load through Amplify's image proxy, which is what lets you download the picture as a PNG.
We keep the finished circle for up to 3 days so repeat lookups and share links are fast, and the public interactions behind it a while longer so the next refresh only has to fetch new posts. Lookups are rate limited per visitor to stop abuse. There is no login, and Amplify never gets access to any X account.
To see how X Circle is used, we count page visits, lookups and button clicks (like Download or Post on X) with the username involved, without cookies and without storing your IP address, and delete them after 90 days.
Common questions
Do I need to log in to X?
No. You only type a username. Amplify reads that account's public posts, so there is nothing to connect and we never ask for your X password or access to your account.
Can I make a circle for someone else?
Yes, for any public account. The circle only uses public replies, quotes, mentions and reposts, the same activity anyone can see on that account's profile. Protected accounts can't be drawn.
Why is someone I talk to a lot missing?
X Circle only sees recent public posts. Likes, follows and DMs aren't visible, older conversations fade out, and replies from protected accounts can't be read. The picture also holds 50 people at most, and anyone you untick is left out.
Why did my circle come out different from last time?
A circle is refreshed at most every 3 days. When it is, new posts are added and every interaction loses half its weight each 30 days, so the ranking moves with what you have been doing lately.
What is saved when I make a share link?
Nothing new is saved when you copy it. The share link is just amplify.cv/x-circle?u= plus the username, and opening it draws the same circle from our cache. We count that a share link was opened, with its username, to see how X Circle spreads. Your picture settings (colors, sizes, who you unticked) stay in your browser and aren't part of the link.
